He’s talking about Jesus and how he would die for everyone. It’s like he’s a puppet, unknowingly speaking a truth that’s way bigger than him. His words are dripping with dramatic irony because he thinks he’s just trying to protect the nation, but he’s actually prophesying something monumental. This moment is a sneak peek into God’s plan, and it’s electrifying and profound!
This book was written by John, one of Jesus' closest friends. He wanted to share the truth about who Jesus was and how he changed everything. John includes this detail about the high priest because it reveals a deeper layer of understanding about Jesus’ mission. John likely felt a mix of emotions when writing this—he saw his friend misunderstood and mistreated, yet he also recognized the larger purpose behind it all.
