Matthew, one of Jesus' closest followers, wrote this book. He wanted to share the life and teachings of Jesus with others, especially those curious about who Jesus was. Just like Jesus did, be open and honest in your conversations—whether with God or with those around you.
Leading up to this moment, you need to understand that things are intense. Jesus is in the Garden of Gethsemane, just hours before his arrest and crucifixion. He knows what’s coming, and the weight of it is crushing. His friends are supposed to support him, but they’re struggling to stay awake. This third prayer is the climax of his struggle—he's pushing through the fear and uncertainty, wanting to connect with God one last time before everything changes. After this moment, he faces betrayal and suffering, making this prayer pivotal in the unfolding drama of the story.
