Imagine standing in a crowded room, tension thick in the air. You can feel the weight of anticipation as the governor, Pilate, faces the people. With a heavy heart, he releases Barabbas, a notorious criminal, instead of Jesus, an innocent man. The crowd is clamoring, and in that moment, you can almost hear the whip crack as Jesus is scourged, his body marked and bruised.
