It’s like saying, 'Go ahead and try; do whatever it takes!' This highlights the desperation of those trying to control the situation, showing how much they feared what might happen next. You can sense the urgency and anxiety—they want to prevent anything unexpected from occurring, as if they believe they can outsmart fate itself. This moment is charged with emotion and drama, making it clear that something monumental is about to unfold.
This book was written by Matthew, one of Jesus' original followers. He was there, witnessing these events firsthand.
