This verse is shining a spotlight on that truth: a healthy tree simply cannot produce bad fruit, just like a sick tree won’t suddenly start growing the best apples. It’s a clear message about the connection between our roots—what's inside us—and the fruit we show the world. What you are deep down will always come out in your actions and words. So, take a moment to reflect: what kind of fruit are you producing?
This book was written by Matthew, one of Jesus’ close followers. He was a tax collector turned disciple, so he really understood the struggle of living a life that people judged from the outside. Matthew's perspective is all about showing how Jesus taught practical life lessons.
