Imagine it's a dark night, and you’re feeling scared and unsure about what to say or do. Suddenly, you hear a comforting voice telling you not to be afraid. That’s exactly what’s happening here! God is encouraging Paul, reminding him to keep speaking out and sharing his message. It’s like getting a pep talk right when you need it most! This moment shows us that even when we feel scared or doubt ourselves, there’s a powerful presence urging us to keep going.
This book, Acts, was written by Luke, a doctor and an eager observer of the early church. He wanted to share the incredible story of how the message of Jesus spread across the world. Including this detail about God speaking to Paul shows Luke’s focus on God’s active involvement in guiding and encouraging people during tough times. It highlights the importance of divine support in the journey of faith.
When Acts was written, the world was a mix of cultures and religions, with the Roman Empire in charge. People were searching for meaning and truth, often feeling lost in their lives. In this chapter, Paul is in Corinth, facing a tough crowd and feeling a bit overwhelmed. He’s been preaching about a new way of living, and the pressure is mounting. Just before this moment, he’s had some rough experiences and might be thinking about giving up. But then, God gives him this message of courage! After this encouragement, Paul continues his work and even stays in Corinth for a year and a half, teaching and building a community. This verse is the turning point that fuels him to keep going despite the challenges.
