The group knows that the next person has to be someone who has been there from the beginning, witnessing all the miracles and teachings. This is a pivotal moment where they’re not just filling a spot; they’re looking for someone who truly understands their journey. This verse sets the stage for how they will choose their new leader, emphasizing the importance of shared experiences in leadership.
