This book was written by John, one of Jesus' closest friends and followers. He wanted to share the incredible things he experienced and learned during his time with Jesus. John had a unique perspective because he witnessed Jesus' love and teachings firsthand. Also, try to recognize moments when you feel a sense of peace or understanding about a tough situation; that could be the Spirit at work. Embrace the idea that you’re not alone—carry that awareness with you throughout your day.
In the larger story of this chapter, Jesus is having an intimate conversation with His closest friends, preparing them for His departure. He comforts them, knowing they’re anxious about what’s to come. This verse comes right after He promises them that even though He won’t be with them physically, they will still have the Spirit as their guide.
