Imagine standing in a crowd, and there’s a man with a hand that’s shriveled and lifeless. You can almost feel the tension in the air as people start whispering, eyeing him with curiosity and maybe a bit of pity. Then, the question pops up: 'Is it okay to help him today?' It’s not just about the man’s hand; it’s about the rules people follow. They’re trying to trap someone in their words, to catch him breaking the rules. This moment is electric! It’s a clash between compassion and strict tradition, and you can feel the weight of both sides in the air. What’s more important: the rules or helping someone in need?
The book of Matthew was written by one of Jesus’ followers, a guy who actually saw these events unfold. Matthew wanted to share the incredible things he witnessed and help others understand who Jesus was.
