Imagine you’re one of Jesus' closest friends, coming down a mountain after seeing something incredible—something that changes everything! Jesus, glowing and powerful, turns to you with a serious look. He tells you not to share what you’ve just experienced until after he rises from the dead. It’s like he’s guarding a secret that’s too big to reveal just yet. This moment is loaded with anticipation and mystery! You can feel the weight of his command. Why would he want to keep this amazing event under wraps? It highlights the importance of timing in understanding his mission.
This book was written by Matthew, one of Jesus' twelve disciples. He was there, witnessing these events firsthand! Matthew wanted to share the story of Jesus in a way that highlighted his identity and mission. By including this detail about keeping the vision a secret, Matthew captures the tension between what the disciples see and understand versus the full revelation of who Jesus is and what he came to do. It shows how even those closest to Jesus had to navigate the mystery of his mission.
