Imagine someone who's been deeply moved, feeling a spark of excitement and determination. That's this scribe! He approaches Jesus, full of passion and commitment, declaring that he wants to follow Him anywhere. This moment is electric—a person ready to leave everything behind for a chance to learn and grow. It’s not just about the words; it’s about the heart behind them. This person sees something special in Jesus and is eager to be part of it, showcasing a desire for connection and purpose.
This book, Matthew, was written by—surprise!—Matthew himself, one of Jesus’ followers. He was a tax collector turned disciple, which means he had a unique perspective on who Jesus was. Matthew wanted to show people that Jesus was the real deal, the one they had been waiting for. By including this moment with the scribe, he highlights the excitement of following Jesus, but also hints at the deeper journey ahead.
